When to take Neurontin

You have to take Neurontin as it was prescribed to you by your physician, with no distractions or delays in your treatment.

Neurontin (Gabapentin) is indicated for controlling the postherpetic neuralgia in adults. It is effective in prevention of frequent migraine headaches, neuropathic pain and nystagmus, and is prescribed off-label for these conditions.

It is necessary to use gabapentin regularly for best seizure control. Contact your doctor if your seizures are getting worse or if you have them more often while taking Neurontin.

Don’t stop taking Neurontin without talking first to your physician, because you may experience a seizure boosting. Neurontin treatment can not be stopped suddenly.

Gabapentin`s usefulness is limited in the treatment of anxiety disorders such as social anxiety disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder, for insomnia, and in treatment-resistant depression.

Neurontin is prescribed for the treatment of partial seizures in pediatric patients age 3- 12 years and partial seizures with and without secondary generalization in patients over 12 years of age with epilepsy.

Any doctor, physician, or health care provider who is treating you has to know that you are on a seizure drug such as Neurontin. You should carry an ID card or wear a medical alert bracelet wich is stating that you are taking Gabapentin, in case of emergency.

Store Neurontin tablets, capsules or pills at room temperature. Keep the medication away from light and moisture. The liquid medication can be stored the frige, but don’t freeze it.
